The French commercial broadcaster TF1 has launched a new video portal on its tf1.fr website. The channel will also add interactivity for its viewers using Facebook in the next few months.
On the new website, the broadcaster will offer 60% of its prime time programming available on-demand for a period up to seven days. Viewing will be free, with advertising paying for the privilege.
TF1 is using the same model as M6 Replay and Canal+ à la demande.
The channel also will make up to 17,000 shorts clips available, as well as a ‘zapping’ service and a selection of ‘the best’ programmes from the TF1 archives.
Parallel to this free offer, the VOD portal TF1 Video will continue to offer US programming on a pay-per-view basis.
