Russia’s Comstar-UTS has announced plans to offer commercial triple play services in the city of Sochi.
It says that its subsidiary CTS began trialling a digital TV service in the city last December, employing FTTB to deliver a package of 50 channels.
A full TV launch will take place in Q2, to be followed shortly afterwards by one for broadband internet and (in H2 2009) VoIP.
Comstar-UTS notes that the penetration of pay-TV and broadband internet services in Sochi, which will host the Winter Olympics in 2014, is currently very low.
