Widevine enters Bulgarian IPTV market

The Bulgarian telco Vestitel has opted for Widevine Cypher content protection for its hosted IPTV service, which is provided to and rebranded by, regional operators throughout the country.
Vestitel claims to be the first and to date only IPTV operator in Bulgaria, offering a service under the brand name TIVIA.
The company is majority (99%) owned by the Bulgarian gas provider Overgas Holding, which is understood to be backed by Russia’s Gazprom.
