Poland faces high DTT subsidy bill

Poland may have to pay out up to PLN400 million (€96.5 million) in subsidies for DTT set-top boxes for its most needy citizens.

The figure was given by Witold Kolodziejski, the president of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), in a meeting with the local press.

He added that the MPEG-4 set-top boxes, identified by a red and white required to receive the country’s soon-to-be-launched DTT service, would retail at around PLN250 each.
