ACC Broadband Convention – Bucharest. The NetCity project has once more become a subject for debate as Romania gears up for a general election, due to take place on November 30.
Politicians are bemoaning the absence of infrastructure legislation, which is required to make the project – first put forward around two and a half years ago – a reality.
NetCity proposed building a fibre-optic network in the capital, Bucharest, and using it as a template for similar networks in other parts of the country.
However, earlier this year the project was criticised by the EC, which felt it might breach European competition rules.
