Spanish debut for Animax

Japanese animé channel Animax is to launch on the Spanish IPTV operator Imagenio.
The Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) channel will instantly gain 500,000 subscribers on the Telefónica-owned network.
Ross Hair, senior VP of international networks, SPTI, said he was also in advanced negotiations with other operators in the region.
Animax is the third channel to be launched by SPTI in Spain after Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and AXN. The channel offers a mix of anime across action, sci-fi, comedy, drama and romance genres. It is already available in 49 countries.
