The Poker Channel has announced two carriage deals in The Netherlands and a restructuring of the company.
An additional 550,000 subscribers to UPC’s digital basic package, as well as subscribers to KPN’s basic IPTV package, will be able to view coverage of poker tournaments including the Irish Open 2008, the European Poker Masters and the Million Dollar Cash game.
Over the past 12 months The Poker Channel has built coverage on Welho (Finland), Coditel (Belgium), Telefonica’s IPTV service, Imagenio, (Spain), and Melita Cable (Malta). It is available in 15,300,000 homes.
In a restructuring of the company Poker Channel Ltd has become a subsidiary of Gaming Media Group (formerly Poker Holdings), a private UK company owned by its management and two private investors.
Commercial director Chris White has been promoted to head Poker Channel Europe, with responsibility for all content, distribution and commercial areas. Founder Crispin Nieboer, a former head of media and telecoms at N M Rothschild and Sky channel developer has been made CEO of Gaming Media Group.
