PIKE Conference, ZAKOPANE. According to Joanna Pasynkiewicz, a member of the board and head of marketing at Aster, the Polish MSO currently has 100,000 Internet, 50,000 digital TV and 40,000 VoIP subscribers in Warsaw. Comparing the situation in 2000 to today, she added that seven years ago 95% of its Internet subscribers were offered access speeds of only 128Kbps. Today, 53% opt for a package with speeds of 3-6Mbps, while 52% are categorised as “heavy users”, spending over 100 hours a month online. She added that Aster, which is present in Kraków and Zielona Góra as well as Warsaw, could still not accommodate the 180 TV channels offered in Poland despite being the first leading MSO to introduce a digital cable service.
