At a press conference in Kassel, German cable operator Unitymedia announced it has added all the available regional and local broadcasters to its digital line-up as part of the “Jetzt digital” (digital now) campaign. A total of 31 new channels were added to the networks of the state of Hesse, including the regional windows of RTL and Sat1 as well as the first public access channel in digital.
The operator claims it is a first for Germany that local and regional channels are fed into a network distributed on a state-wide basis. Among the regional broadcasters are center.tv from Cologne and Dusseldorf and all are only receivable in their respective coverage areas.
A large number of international channels have also been made available including The Poker Channel, GOD, OBE, Luxe TV, France 2, 3 and 5, France 24 and the new German channels Lettra, Body in Balance, Bible TV, Souvenirs from Earth, UProm TV and Tier TV.
