ANGA CABLE – Cologne. Swedish manufacturer A2B announced the introduction of a new consumer product to help ease the digital switch over process for multi dwelling houses, bed and breakfasts and small hotels. The so-called Multibox 6T will be distributed and installed in the UK by Eurosat, the country’s largest installer of Sky dishes, the company announced here in Cologne.
The Multibox 6T receives up to six digital channels and converts them into six analogue television channels with NICAM stereo, which can be viewed with any standard television set, videorecorder or HDD recorder. “No need to re-wire, no new remote control is needed,” said David Stringer, key acoount manager for the company, “The Multibox will allow people to continue to watch the main channels BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Five.”
At the same time the Multibox also distributes all the digital multiplexes. The product was first introduced in Sweden in a three-channel version in 2005 and proved a big success among consumers, some 50,000 units were sold at a price point between €300 and €350. The product has also been introduced in Danmark, Finland and Czech Republic. For the UK the special 6-channel version had to be developed to allow the main channels to be distributed.
