Eutelsat’s third quarter financials show a significant increase video revenues, up 16.7% on the corresponding period one year ago, and more than compensating for minor falls in other businesses.
Video delivered revenues of €148.8 million out of a total €205.7m for the Paris-based satellite operator, representing an overall increase of 10.6%.
Giuliano Berretta, Eutelsat’s chairman and chief executive, said the revenue growth reflected expanding markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He added that it was not just video that was driving the company forward. “Our Value Added Services posted double digit growth, driven by demand for broadband in regions with limited coverage from terrestrial networks.
Berretta pointed to the opening of a new orbital slot at four degrees East, and the redeployment of Eurobird 4, taking the number of positions operated by Eutelsat to 18.
