BSkyB has extended its exclusive pay-TV contract with the film studio Sony. The broadcaster will hold the exclusive UK rights to movies including Spiderman 3, The Da Vinci Code and The Pursuit of Happyness in a new multiyear agreement.
The broadcaster was not telling how much the extension cost it or the duration of the contract that includes the online and satellite-delivered versions of its Sky Anytime on demand service. It is thought that Sky would have come under pressure from the more aggressive stance being taken by Virgin Media.
Last year Sky secured a similar agreement with the Walt Disney studio.
