Bulgaria’s largest cable operator CableTel has announced the acquisition of Evrotur for an undisclosed fee. Evrotur is also a leading player in the Bulgarian cable industry, being the first operator to launch a digital TV service in 2002. Like CableTel, it has since become a triple play company. CableTel is majority owned by the US’s CableTel International Corporation but was earlier this year believed to be a take-over target for the UK-registered Ramford Alliance Ltd. Present in 22 cities across Bulgaria, it plans to have 90% of its network upgraded to offer such additional services as HDTV, PVR and VOD within the next two years.
