Stockholm has become the latest Swedish city to make the move to switch off its analogue TV broadcasts. The transmission company Teracom switched off the transmitter at Nacka, which serves the capital, at 09.45 this morning. Engineers are working through the day to optimize the signal and by 18.00 this evening leaving SVT2 and TV4 available only to digital viewers. SVT1 will remain on the air in analogue for a further two weeks before it too succumbs to 0s and 1s.
The island of Gotland was the first area to complete analogue switchover in September 2005. The process is expected to have completed by February 2008.
