The German DTH market is turning digital, but analogue receivers are still being bought. “Last year about 200,000 of these receivers have been sold, the year befiore it was over 350,000,” according to Wolfgang Elsäßer, managing director of Astra Deutschland in German press reports. Last year over two million digital receivers were sold, up 7.3% from 2005.
This year the number of digital satellite receivers will surpass the number of analogue households. According to the SES Astra Satellite Monitor 8.2 million of the 16.8 million satellite households in the country watch digital (as per December, 2006). According to the research the number of DTT receievers sold was down 10% compared with the previous year, about one million units.
