The Dutch media authority Commissariaat voor de Media (CVDM) has ruled that Ziggo must follow the advice of the local programme councils with regards to the channel line-up of the basic analogue tier.
Dutch cabler Ziggo has reported a rapid growth in the number of digital households in the first half of 2009. This resulted in an increase of 387,000 customers to reach a total base of 1,382,000. The company remains the number one provider of digital TV in the Netherlands.

Ziggo, Holland’s largest cable operator, has started to make CI Plus CAMs available to its customers. The SMiT Secure Plus CAM will be the first batch of CAMs deployed into Ziggo market.
RTL Nederland will launch RTL Lounge, its first digital channel, on the Ziggo and UPC cable networks on October 2. Aimed at young women, the channel will broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
12.00 Update: Holland’s largest cable operator Ziggo has said that the price for third party resellers will be €11.05 per month. With such pricing, competition will virtually be impossible for newcomers.
Holland’s largest cable operator Ziggo will add NBC Universal’s Sci-Fi and 13th Street to its line-up of digital channels on May 1.
