The SES-15 satellite was successfully launched onboard a Soyuz rocket from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana at 08:54 local time. This is SES’s first satellite to launch on a Soyuz rocket for a geostationary transfer orbit mission.

Payload preparations are advancing for Arianespace’s upcoming launch: a Soyuz mission to orbit the SES-15 telecommunications spacecraft from the Spaceport in French Guiana next week.
The SES-15 satellite has arrived at the European space Center in Kourou, French Guiana, in preparation for its launch by a Soyuz vehicle in April 2017.
Arianespace began its busy 2017 launch schedule with a Soyuz mission that marked multiple ‘firsts’ in orbiting the Hispasat 36W-1 telecommunications satellite on a flight from the Spaceport.
The Soyuz launcher for Arianespace’s year-opening mission rolled out to the launch pad in French Guiana, readying the vehicle to receive its Hispasat 36W-1 payload for a nighttime liftoff from the Spaceport on Friday, January 27.
