The state no longer has an interest in retaining its 49% stake in the incumbent telco Slovak Telekom, according to Tomas Malatinsky, Slovakia’s new economy minister.
Slovak Telekom has posted a year-on-year increase of 18.9% in its TV subscriber total, the Magio-branded services it operates ending the first quarter with a total of 162,000 customers.
Slovak Telekom has issued a statement saying it “emphatically disagrees” with the preliminary findings of an EC statement of objections (SO) that alleges the telco abused its dominant position in the country’s broadband market.
Slovak Telekom ended the third quarter with 153,000 subscribers to its digital TV service, or 41.6% more than in the same period last year.
