UPDATE – December 9, 12.30 CET. The Dutch cable operator Ziggo will block the functioning of the Alphacrypt CAMs in CI plus receivers (set-tops and integrated TVs) from February 2, 2010.
The Dutch cable operator CAIW has become the first in the country to add two more RTL channels to its HD line-up, as well as HD versions of the two Dutch language Belgian public channels VRT een and Ketnet/Canvas.
Holland’s largest cable operator Ziggo has added the catch-up TV service RTL Gemist to its interactive platform.
RTL Group’s EBITA increased 22.7% in the third quarter to €92 million from €75 million in the same period last year. This growth was driven by higher profit contributions from Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, Groupe M6, RTL Nederland, RTL Radio in France and the UK’s Five.
UPC has launched the catch-up TV service RTL gemist on its networks in The Netherlands. Programmes from RTL 4, 5, 7 and 8 can be requested up to ten days from the original broadcast date.
The terrestrial Viseo+ service will launch in Stuttgart today (October 15) with six encrypted channels from the RTL Group. Two receivers are in the shops now, capable of picking up the Conax encrypted MPEG-4 broadcasts.
The Dutch cable operator UPC will launch two RTL channels in HD this Thursday (October 15), and early next year two more RTL channels will also start in HD.
SES Astra has confirmed the November 1 launch of its new HD platform HD+ and said viewers will receive the first 12 months for free.
The new terrestrial platform from RTL and Eutelsat Visavision will be called Viseo Plus when it starts on October 15 in the greater Stuttgart area with the encrypted RTL channels RTL, Vox, RTL II, Super RTL, RTL Crime and RTL Passion.
During a special dealers day, the Dutch DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet announced it will start to carry the Slovak based pre-school channel Bebe TV.
