IBC 2010 – AMSTERDAM. ZON TV Cabo is to trial a user interface based on Nagravision’s OpenTV nX. The Portuguese cableco already uses the Nagravision conditional access, but in the last 24 hours it has also been announced that it will give a test run to the NDS Snowflake UI.
It has emerged that Ben Bennett has quietly stepped down from his position as CEO of OpenTV following the acquisition of the company by Kudelski and a reorganization of the group’s structure.
The purchase of middleware and interactive advertising specialist OpenTV by the Swiss technology group Kudelski has finally been completed.
Kudelski has reported increased revenues for 2009 after a number of key conditional access clients were moved to the company’s new service model in the first half of the year.

The Kudelski Group has openly criticised a letter written by OpenTV investor Arcadia Capital Advisors in which the company described the Swiss technology company’s bid as being “too low”.
Sky has extended its relationship with OpenTV, licensing new patents and intellectual property rights, to support the ongoing development of its digital TV platform.
OpenTV’s board of directors is remaining neutral on the latest offer for the middleware and advertising solutions company by the Kudelski Group.
