EC questions Belgian Open Cable plans

Deficom and Apax to acquire Numericable

The French cable operator Numéricable is about to close a deal with Deficom Telecom and private investor firm Apax to sell the cabler’s Belgian and Luxembourgoise assets for an amount reportedly exceeding €350 million.

Unrest about analogue cable switch-off

Belgian authority approves Open Cable plans

The Belgian competition authority (Raad voor de Mededinging van België) has said it agrees with the market analysis of the broadcast market by telecoms regulator BIPT and the regional media authorities VRM (Flanders), CSA (Walloon) and Medienrat (German speaking part).

Freebox adds INA premium S-VOD service

Telenet not on Numericable shortlist

Numericable considers Belgian sale

The French cable group Numericable is to put its Belgian and Luxembourg subsidiaries on the market. Banker Rothschild has been appointed to oversee the sale of the profitable division that serves between 120,000 and 150,000 customers in the Brussels area.

Numericable launches 3D on demand

French cable network Numericable has officially launched a dedicated 3D channel. Ma Chaîne 3D will be available in over eight million households and will include coverage of the WBA heavyweight boxing fight on November 13 between David Haye and Audley Harrison, which is being shown as a simulcast with Ma Chaîne Sport.
