Modern Times Group (MTG) has acquired the exclusive broadcast and online rights across the Nordic region (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland) to Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A until 2018.
MTG has won the exclusive rights to screen live Premier League coverage in Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
MTG is now unlikely to sell its non-terrestrial TV channels outside Scandinavia to Leonard Blavatnik.
Leonard Blavatnik has reportedly agreed in principle to buy a controlling interest in MTG’s Viasat business in Russia.
The movie channel TV1000 Russian Kino will shortly make its debut in Poland.
