New card activations for TivùSat peaked at some 3,000 cards per day in the run up to digital switch off in Italy.
Sky and Mediaset have signed a new agreement that means the broadcasters will each have access to all the available matches in both the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.
The Italian free-to-air platform Tivùsat has enabled more than 700,000 smart-cards.
Next spring, the development of digital terrestrial broadcasting in Italy will enter a new phase, with at least 12 new channels taking to the airwaves. It will be the result of a decision by the Italian communication authority AGCOM requiring three main DTT licence holders to rent out 40% of their capacity to third parties.
