Sports channel Eurosport 1 HD and men’s channel DMAX HD will be part of the commercial channel proposition Freenet TV launching on March 29, 2017 on the German DVB-T2 platform.

German technical services provider Media Broadcast will set up and operate the DVB-T2 transmitter network for ARD and ZDF on which the public broadcasters will distribute up to 20 TV channels in Full HD quality (1080p50).
The Freenet TV package with around 20 commercial free-to-air TV channels in Full HD quality on the German DVB-T2 platform will cost €69 per year, corresponding with €5.75 per month.
SMiT has entered into a partnership with Irdeto to supply the CI Plus Module with Irdeto Cloaked CA to Germany’s Media Broadcast ahead of the launch of its new freenet TV DTT service.
The next-generation DTT platform in DVB-T2/HEVC standard will launch its full service in Germany on March 29, 2017 in several urban areas with around 40 public and commercial channels mainly in HD quality.
The commercial TV channels on the DVB-T2 platform launching in Germany on May 31, 2016 will be offered under the name Freenet TV.
