Kabel Deutschland has launched a dedicated trial in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich of the next generation DVB-C2 standard. The operator is testing the technology on Channel 4 (794MHz) running TV channels in DVB-C2.

DVB-C2 sees first live transmission
The first live transmissions of the second generation cable standard DVB-C2 have taken place in Germany. The initial transmissions were made at the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig on April 22 and followed up this week by a public demonstration at ANGA Cable in Cologne.

Virgin supportive of DVB-C2
IBC 2009 – Amsterdam. Virgin Media’s director of technical strategy Kevin Baughan has told Broadband TV News that it makes sense for the cable industry to sign up to the new DVB-C2 technology. However, the UK cablenet has no plans to join the nine operators that have publically declared their support for the technology.
