Broadband Access solution provider Iskratel has teamed up with Spanish broadband specialist Cabelec to develop a new solution for ITM Global.
Cabelec will utilise Iskratel’s GPON Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), alongside its passive infrastructure, to deliver a GPON-based optical LAN solution. ITM Global will install the solution for one of its customers in the hospitality sector, Hotel Los Castros, and plans to replicate the deployment for other customers in the hospitality sector in the future.
“As demand for increased bandwidth continues to rise, we needed to effectively and efficiently replace our customer’s active ethernet switches to increase network capacity,” said. Luis Miguel González Martín, technical director at ITM Global. “Cabelec, in partnership with Iskratel, developed an alternative solution which simplified this process significantly, enabling us to achieve our goals and upgrade our customer’s networks to meet future service demands.”
Designed to simplify the traditional multi-tier switching architecture, Iskratel’s GPON solution will be deployed to replace the active Ethernet switches with passive optical devices in the network of Hotel Los Castros, enabling the hotel’s network to support ultrafast downstream and upstream speeds. Acting as an alternative to traditional active networks, the solution will enable cost-effective and efficient upgrades of the network to meet the demand for gigabit broadband, enabling the hotel to deliver bandwidth-consuming Ultra-High Definition (UHD) content, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and internet data services.
The project comes after Cabelec became a new Certified Partner in Iskratel’s Partner Program scheme earlier this year. Under the partnership, a new range of solutions for the delivery of broadband, IPTV, telephony, video surveillance and cloud services will be brought to new segments of the market, combining Iskratel’s GPON and centralised management system with Cabelec’s experience in building and deploying successful, high-quality networks.
