Ofcom lifts Sky restriction on Top Up TV receivers

Ofcom has barred Sky from using a clause in its wholesale contract with Top Up TV that would have restricted the range of set-top boxes used by the pay-TV operator for distributing Sky Sports.

German broadcasters to showcase HbbTV at IFA

Digi TV completes Nagra upgrade

Cisco to supply first Virgin-TiVo PVR

Paul Dale is ITV CTO

ITV has named Paul Dale as its new chief technology officer. The former CTO of Malaysian pay-TV operator Astro has previously worked for both the BBC and BSkyB and will now lead ITV’s newly formed Technology and Platforms directorate, with responsibility for transmission, broadcast services and platforms.

Sky 3D to launch October 1

BSkyB has confirmed that Europe’s first 3D channel will make its consumer debut on Friday October 1. Transmitted in the side by side format, Sky 3D will offer viewers a line-up of sport, movies, entertainment and the arts.
