NBC Universal sheds Das Vierte

NBC Universal has said it has sold the German general entertainment channel Das Vierte to the Luxembourg based Mini Movie Channel International. The new owner is backed by Dmitri Lesnevski, founder of Russian independent broadcaster Ren TV.

Telenor plans Danish sports channel

TELENOR BROADCAST PRESS DAY – OSLO. Telenor has given details of its planned sports channel for the Danish market. Christian Albech, CEO, Telenor Broadcast Holding said talks with prospective partners were in their final stages and an announcement would be made in the next few weeks.

Belgacom TV keeps Jupiler League football

Belgacom TV has won the rights to keep broadcasting the live Jupiler League matches on its IPTV platform for the next three seasons. The operator will pay €44.7 million for each season.

Sever shipments deliver for SeaChange

SeaChange has reported a year-on year revenue increase of 17%. The VOD technology and services provider said the revenues of $45 million (€28.94m) in the first quarter of its 2009 fiscal year had highlighted the strength of software following a realignment of its operating segments.

Disney Channel launches on Mediaset Premium

Disney Channel is to launch on digital terrestrial television in Italy. However, unlike Spain where Disney has recently announced a free-to-air offer, Disney Channel Italy will be part of the new Mediaset Premium Gallery that launches on July 1.

Disney Channel moves to Spanish DTT

Disney Channel has said its free to air DTT service will move to the Spanish DTT platform on July 1. The decision follows ten years as a premium channel on Spanish cable. Nevertheless, the move is expected to be a welcome boost to digital terrestrial television in Spain.

UPC signs Disney-ABC VOD deal
