Cristinel Popa is Managing Director, RR Media CE. He has over 25 years experience in broadcasting and telecommunications. He was the founder and owner of Eastern Space Systems, a leading satellite and media services operator in Central and Eastern Europe. Established in 1997, it was acquired by RR Media in 2015 and is now part of a global media services provider.
Cristinel began his broadcasting and telecommunications career in 1990 with Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation, where he held multiple positions, starting as a journalist and finishing in 1995 as Secretary General and Deputy CEO.
In 1998 he acquired Uniplus Radio (now Magic FM), the first private radio station in Romania. He sold the station to an international media group in 2001.
In 2004 he launched Focus Sat, the first DTH platform in Romania. In 2006 the platform was bought by UPC Romania (Liberty Global International).
In 2010 he founded Mooz TV, a company that operates five music channels with international distribution.
