Mirek Smyk

With more than 12 years hands-on experience and international exposure in strategic and operational management in pay-TV and telecoms in Central & East Europe and the Balkans, Smyk is the founder and owner of MSCG a consulting boutique linking telco, pay-TV, technology and content providers across the region.

The recently established company focuses on delivering on-demand teams of industry experts to ensure quick implementation of future proof TV, social networking and multimedia solutions. MSCG clients include the largest global mobile telecom and satellite operators,  Top 4 management consulting companies, private equity funds, investment banks, broadcasters and content distributors.

In February 2012 Smyk was also appointed the Executive President CEE, of the Connected TV Marketing Association, a global trade organization aiming at increasing awareness of connected-TV business opportunities globally and within individual countries.

His previous experience in the TV arena stretched from commercial strategy definition and execution, through multi-million Euro content deals and pay-TV portfolio management, to management of complex TV organizations and projects like IPTV platform launches.

Aged 29 Smyk was appointed the youngest General Manager of a DTH platform worldwide and over the two years that followed grew Romtelecom Dolce to more than 1.3 million set-top boxes, bringing TV revenues above that of broadband. Moreover he is among few people in IPTV industry that developed and launched two different IPTV platforms in two different markets (O2 TV in Czech Republic and Dolce Interactiv in Romania) that currently have together approx. 200,000 subscribers.

Smyk was also involved in a working group focusing on strategic content partnerships and TV business development in the region of Southern and Eastern Europe, part of the cooperation between Deutsche Telekom -OTE Group. Other experience in telecom and media sector includes working for mobile and fixed-line operators like Telefonica O2, Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa, Telekomunikacja Polska and Energis.
