Bloomberg is to scale back its television news operations, shutting all non-English language channels, including those in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Japan.
100 jobs in television and radio will go in the US. Further reductions will take place in the UK, Europe and Japan, though no decision on numbers has yet been taken.
The existing English language operations in the Americas, Europe and Asia will be integrated into a single global channel.
Bloomberg hopes that by scaling back its 18 year-old television business, the operation that loses around $20 million (€15.5 million) per year will finally enter profitability.
