German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has struck a wide‑ranging 360‑degree content agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), strengthening its programming line-up across Germany, Austria and Switzerland and adding five new Sony FAST Channels to streaming service Joyn.
The deal secures exclusive free‑to‑air premieres of upcoming SPE films and series for the group’s TV channels and for Joyn, alongside extensive digital rights. Among the highlights are German‑language free‑TV premieres such as It Ends with Us, Anaconda, Materialists, Karate Kid: Legends and Die drei ??? und der Karpatenhund, following their home entertainment and pay‑TV windows.
ProSiebenSat.1 is also acquiring 33 exclusive films, a further 84 library titles and eight series totalling nearly 1,000 episodes. The agreement includes broad digital exploitation rights for Joyn, expanding the platform’s catalogue across all screens.
Under the Sony One brand, five new FAST Channels – Action Hits, Comedy Hits, Comedy TV, Best Of and Thriller TV – will launch on Joyn.
“This content partnership supports all our business areas and offers our viewers top‑tier entertainment. We continue to show strong US fiction on our linear channels, which will of course also be available on Joyn. And with five new FAST Channels on Joyn, we are distributing Sony Pictures Entertainment’s content in an optimal and targeted way across all platforms,” said Henrik Pabst, Chief Content Officer at ProSiebenSat.1.
The agreement also grants access to a substantial SPE library, including titles from the Spider‑Man franchise (Spider‑Man (2002), Spider‑Man 2 (2004), The Amazing Spider‑Man (2012), Spider‑Man: Homecoming (2017)), as well as Hancock, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Matilda, Ghostbusters and more. Selected seasons of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are included, alongside complete runs of classics such as Married… with Children, I Dream of Jeannie, The Tudors, Bewitched, Mad About You, Pan Am, Unforgettable and The Guardian.
Through Crunchyroll, ProSiebenSat.1 is also securing anime series including Hell’s Paradise, Kaiju No. 8 and Tokyo Revengers for subscription service Joyn+ and the group’s pay‑TV channels.
