ZDF Studios signs new content deal with Prima Group

June 1, 2026 10.19 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

ZDF Studios has concluded a new agreement with Prima Group in the Czech Republic, further expanding its long-standing partnership.

The deal comprises a package of 360 “Herzkino” titles, including films from the franchises Rosamunde Pilcher, Inga Lindström, A Summer in… (pictured) and Katie Fforde. “Herzkino” is a popular TV movie strand featuring 90-minute romantic dramas and comedies, often based on well-known literary works, and centred on themes such as love, family and friendship.

The agreement includes a mix of re-licensing and first-run rights, with the rights covering free-TV and basic cable in the Czech Republic, as well as Czech-language basic cable in Slovakia.

The newly acquired content is primarily intended for broadcast on the Prima Love channel in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, strengthening the channel’s offering of high-quality romantic drama for its core audience.

This latest agreement builds on the established collaboration, underlining the continued demand for ZDF Studios’ premium scripted content in Central and Eastern Europe, according to the commercial subsidiary of German public broadcaster ZDF.

“We are delighted to deepen our partnership with Prima Group through this new agreement. Our ‘Herzkino’ titles continue to resonate strongly with audiences across Central and Eastern Europe, and we are proud to see these much-loved films reach viewers on Prima Love. This deal once again underlines the enduring appeal of high-quality romantic storytelling and the strength of our collaboration with Prima,” said Mirela Nastase, Director Drama at ZDF Studios.

Simona Goddardová, Head of Acquisitions at FTV Prima, added: “We are very pleased to expand our cooperation with ZDF Studios and to again bring an exceptional collection of ‘Herzkino’ films to our audiences. These titles are a perfect fit for Prima Love and have proven to be highly popular with our viewers. The new agreement allows us to further strengthen our programming with compelling and emotionally engaging content.”
