Roku has introduced a redesigned home screen that will roll out to more than 100 million streaming households.
The update is the first significant change to the Roku home screen in more than 10 years and is designed to make content discovery faster and more personalised.
The new interface uses Roku’s intelligence models to recommend programming based on viewer interests, with ‘billions’ of possible home screen combinations generated for individual users.
New features include Quick Access for frequently used apps, an expanded Top Picks for You section, personalised genre destinations, a subscriptions area, improved search, a collapsible menu and shortcuts for Save List and Continue Watching.
Roku is also adding Your Daily Scoop, a dynamic row highlighting trending shows and cultural moments, and a Roku City tile linking to an interactive version of its screensaver.
Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku, said the redesign keeps entertainment “at the centre of everything” while retaining Roku’s simple interface.
The new home screen begins rolling out in the United States across Roku TVs and streaming devices, with international markets to follow.
