Ocean Blue Software and Service List Registry are collaborating to support wider deployment of the DVB-I service discovery standard.
The partnership combines Ocean Blue Software’s DVB-I client software with SLR’s Unified Service Platform, creating a standards-based system for discovering television and video services across multiple sources, countries and delivery networks.
Ocean Blue Software has developed a DVB-I client for integration into smart TVs and operator platforms. The same software also supports its DVB-I Inspector, an online tool for analysing, validating and monitoring service information against industry specifications.
SLR provides a structured directory of television and video services, enabling devices and applications to identify and access available services.
Paul Martin, CEO of Ocean Blue Software, said the collaboration will allow DVB-I to be deployed effectively across devices in multiple markets.
Dr William Cooper, chief executive of Service List Registry, said DVB-I defines how services are described and discovered, but not how discovery operates at scale. He said the integration demonstrates how device makers and operating system providers can implement reliable service discovery.
The initial focus will be on aligning OBS client software with the SLR platform for television manufacturers and operating system providers developing next-generation DVB-I products.
