DAZN has secured the main UEFA Champions League rights in Austria from the 2027/28 season until 2030/31, while Sky Österreich has retained an exclusive Tuesday first-pick live package in a split deal that reshapes the country’s European football market.
Canal+ Austria has acquired UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League rights for the same cycle, but lost the UEFA Champions League rights to DAZN.
Under the agreement announced by DAZN, the sports streamer will show 186 live Champions League matches per season in Austria from 2027/28, including all Wednesday fixtures and all Tuesday matches except one. Coverage will be available as individual matches and in a multiplex format.
Sky Österreich’s renewed contract covers the four seasons from 2027/28 to 2030/31 and includes the exclusive top Tuesday match, selected under first-pick rights, plus highlights from all Tuesday fixtures. All goals and key moments will also be distributed across linear television, its digital platforms and social media channels, according to the pay-TV operator.
Puls 4 will show the finals of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup on free-TV on its linear channel and on streaming service Joyn.
For the 2026/27 season, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League will remain available on Sky under the current arrangements while Canal+ will continue to show one Champions League game each Wednesday as well as one Europa League or Conference League game in each match week.
The new rights cycle marks a major reshaping of Austria’s UEFA club competitions market, with Champions League matches split between DAZN and Sky, while Canal+ takes control of the secondary tournaments.
In Switzerland, DAZN also announced it had acquired full live rights to the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League from 2027/28, covering 342 matches per season. Swisscom blue TV will continue to show all UEFA Champions League games live.
“The recent acquisition of UEFA rights for the Champions League in Austria as well as the Europa League and the Conference League in Switzerland underlines the ambitions and strength of DAZN in the DACH region,” said Alice Mascia, CEO of DAZN for the DACH region and Belgium.
Michael Radelsberger, Managing Director of Sky Österreich, said: “From the 2027/28 season, we have succeeded in securing a very attractive rights package for the UEFA Champions League. Our goal is to make Tuesday with the live match and highlights a real football event for our viewers.”
Dirk Wierzbitzki, Head of Private Customers and Member of the Executive Committee at Swisscom, said: “We are delighted for our customers that they will continue to watch the biggest European club competition on blue Sport. We see the renewed awarding of the rights to us as confirmation that blue has impressed with the best staging of the sport.”
The announcements further strengthen DAZN’s football portfolio in the German-speaking region, where the platform already carries Bundesliga packages, Serie A, Ligue 1 and other international competitions.
