German connected TV (CTV) technology provider Foxxum has secured Hamburg-based video-on-demand (VOD) operator Videociety as the first customer for its new Foxxum Core OTT platform.
The deal will see Videociety, operator of VOD service maxdome, adopting the unified app solution to distribute its services globally across CTV, mobile and web devices. The company, which is part of German media company Splendid Medien, will use Foxxum Core to launch and manage its apps across multiple platforms via a single backend, under a subscription-based pricing model that includes updates, support and distribution.
According to Foxxum, the agreement reflects a broader shift in the streaming market away from fragmented, platform-specific development towards centralised, scalable distribution models.
Foxxum Core provides access to major ecosystems without upfront investment, aiming to reduce complexity and eliminate the need for platform-by-platform return-on-investment calculations.
“For us, Foxxum Core was a true no-brainer. Instead of evaluating platform by platform and calculating potential return, we can now launch everywhere instantly,” said Tri Duong Tran, CTO of Videociety. “The fact that all platforms, updates, and support are included in a single monthly model removes a huge amount of complexity and risk. It allows us to fully focus on our content and audience growth, while ensuring maximum reach across all relevant devices.”
Foxxum positions the platform as an abstraction layer for the increasingly fragmented streaming ecosystem, covering multiple operating systems, device manufacturers and regional environments. According to the company, the model allows content providers to avoid prioritisation decisions and technical overhead tied to individual platforms, instead focusing on distribution scale and monetisation.
