Warner Bros. Discovery has secured a long-term extension of its rights to the Giro d’Italia and a portfolio of major Italian cycling races, reinforcing its position as a leading global cycling broadcaster.
The new agreement with RCS Sport will see coverage of the Giro d’Italia, Giro d’Italia Women and races including Milan-Sanremo, Strade Bianche and Il Lombardia continue across WBD platforms in Europe and the United States.
The deal extends a partnership spanning more than 30 years, with Eurosport first broadcasting the Giro across Europe in 1998.
Coverage will be available on Eurosport in 50 European markets, on TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland, and via streaming on HBO Max across both Europe and the US, including the UK following its recent launch.
Trojan Paillot, SVP sports rights acquisitions and syndications at WBD Sports Europe, said cycling remains central to the company’s multi-sport strategy, with the Giro among its flagship events.
He said the extension underlines WBD’s long-term commitment to the sport and its ambition to reach the widest possible global audience.
Paolo Bellino, CEO of RCS Sport, said the renewed deal reflects the growing international appeal of both men’s and women’s cycling, with WBD providing strong reach across Europe and North America.
The agreement includes a wide range of events across the UCI World Tour and Women’s World Tour calendars, as well as development and ProSeries races.
WBD said the deal secures Giro d’Italia rights until at least 2029 and supports its broader cycling portfolio of more than 1,000 live races across 300 days each year.
Last year’s Giro delivered record streaming and digital engagement for WBD, with video views up 44% on streaming platforms and 84% on social media, alongside growing linear audiences across Europe.
The 2026 Giro d’Italia begins in Bulgaria on 8 May and finishes in Rome on 31 May, with the women’s race running from 30 May to 7 June.
