IBC has appointed Tim Banham as its first chief commercial officer, in a newly created role designed to support a new phase of growth for the media and entertainment industry event.
Banham will join the organisation on June 1 and becomes part of IBC’s senior leadership team as the company looks to expand its exhibition, conference, digital platforms and year-round activities.
IBC said the appointment reflects its continued evolution as a global platform serving the media, entertainment and technology sectors, with a stronger focus on long-term value and deeper engagement with customers and partners.
Michael Crimp, chief executive of IBC, said Banham brings fresh thinking and strong commercial leadership at an important point in the organisation’s development.
He added that Banham’s customer-focused approach would help IBC strengthen how it connects the global industry and responds to the needs of a fast-changing media technology market.
In the new role, Banham will lead IBC’s commercial strategy as the organisation builds towards IBC2026, with responsibility for helping shape future growth across its live events and wider business portfolio.
Banham joins from TM Forum, where he served as EVP and chief commercial officer, helping to grow the global alliance across the connectivity sector. Before that, he held senior roles at Informa, where he worked on the shift from print publishing towards diversified digital products across sectors including telecoms, banking, IT and media.
Banham said IBC is at an important stage in its evolution, with in-person events playing an increasingly significant role in peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.
He said there is a clear opportunity to strengthen IBC’s position at the centre of the global media and entertainment community while supporting collaboration and sustainable growth.
