Nagravision partners WPBSA on digital snooker platform

April 20, 2026 16.30 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Nagravision has partnered with the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association to launch a new digital platform aimed at connecting players, clubs, coaches, referees and fans across the global snooker community.

The new service, Play Snooker, is built on Nagravision’s Sport Player and Community Platform and is being positioned as the first fully integrated digital ecosystem for playing, competing and connecting in snooker.

The platform is accessed through a consumer app and is designed to serve both amateur and professional participants, offering features including verified player profiles, global rankings, gamified tournaments, match statistics and live updates.

WPBSA chairman Jason Ferguson said the launch is intended to bring players closer to the sport and create a digital home for snooker’s worldwide participant base, which the organisation estimates at 100 million.

He said the partnership combines Nagravision’s secure digital technology with the WPBSA’s ambition to grow the game internationally by linking players, clubs, coaches, referees and fans in a single environment.

Nagravision said the platform addresses a long-standing gap in sport by offering a one-stop digital companion designed to improve participation, engagement and monetisation.

Built on a modular cloud-native architecture using AWS scaling capabilities, the platform includes a tournament engine and monetisation options spanning memberships, advertising and micro-transactions.

Morten Solbakken, EVP and COO at Nagravision, said the project represents a new approach to sports participation, turning player engagement into scalable digital relationships and new commercial opportunities.

The company said the platform is aimed not only at snooker, but also as a model for other sports federations looking to build stronger direct relationships with participants through digital services.
