The 14th HbbTV Symposium and Awards will take place in Barcelona on November 18 and 19, with the annual connected TV gathering set to focus on fragmentation, audience measurement and the growing international role of the HbbTV standard.
The event will be held at the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza and co-hosted by Catalan public broadcaster 3Cat.
Organisers said the first day will feature a conference programme of keynotes, presentations and roundtables, with discussion centred on HbbTV’s role as a unifying framework in an increasingly fragmented connected TV market.
Other sessions will examine addressable advertising, audience measurement, accessibility, AI-powered natural language interfaces and HbbTV’s expansion into newer markets including MENA and parts of Asia.
The second day will again adopt an unconference format, allowing delegates to propose topics and lead more informal discussions.
Vincent Grivet, chair of the HbbTV Association, said broadcasters around the world are facing a rapidly changing connected TV environment and that HbbTV offers a broadcaster-friendly framework that supports innovation, data ownership and advanced services.
Natalia Prats, CTO of 3Cat, said the broadcaster sees HbbTV as a powerful enabler of new user experiences, including interactive services, accessibility tools and language-based interfaces.
