Amagi has completed a major broadcast modernisation project for AccuWeather, moving the weather service from traditional broadcast infrastructure to a cloud-based system covering both linear TV and streaming.
The project, delivered as part of an expanded engagement between the two companies, brings AccuWeather’s technology stack and managed operations under Amagi’s control through its Master Control Room in Princeton, New Jersey.
Amagi said the new setup replaces separate linear and OTT workflows with a unified IP-based platform designed to improve efficiency, flexibility and scalability.
The company added that the move enables enhanced distribution efficiency, faster regionalisation, quicker response for live breaking weather coverage and a shorter path to launching new features.
Srinivasan KA, co-founder and president of global business at Amagi, said the engagement goes beyond cloud playout technology and includes active operation, monitoring and optimisation of mission-critical broadcast environments.
Helen Swenson, chief content officer at AccuWeather, said the consolidation of linear and OTT distribution on Amagi’s platform simplifies operations and improves efficiency, allowing the company to focus on content and weather coverage.
The expanded agreement builds on a relationship that began in 2021 when AccuWeather launched FAST channels with Amagi.
