German media company ProSiebenSat.1 is upgrading its streaming service Joyn, introducing long‑requested features to the paid tier Joyn+ while simultaneously increasing prices for new customers.
According to German industry publication DWDL, the platform now offers an offline download option on Joyn+, a function already standard among competitors. Joyn+ subscribers can now download up to ten titles to mobile devices and keep them offline for up to 30 days.
In addition, an instant‑restart function has been rolled out, allowing viewers to restart live TV programmes from the beginning. The feature will be deployed “successively across all relevant platforms and operating systems” in the coming weeks, the report quotes ProSiebenSat.1.
The upgrade comes with a notable price rise – but only for new customers opting for a monthly subscription. The standard monthly fee increases to €8.99, while those committing to an annual plan can still access Joyn+ for €6.99 per month. Existing subscribers will retain their current pricing as long as they do not cancel.
