Sky has expanded its smart home proposition, offering connected devices and monitoring features from £5 (€5.85) per month.
The move builds on Sky’s existing insurance-linked offering, where smart home devices were previously bundled with its Sky Protect service.
Sky Smart Home brings together a video doorbell, indoor camera and app-based monitoring into a single subscription. The entry-level package includes a smart doorbell and chime, featuring 1080p HD video, night vision, motion alerts and 30-day cloud recording. A higher-tier bundle adds an indoor camera and enhanced app features, including automation modes and support for additional sensors.
The service is managed through a dedicated app, allowing users to view live footage, receive alerts and control devices remotely. Sky said the system is designed to simplify home monitoring, with step-by-step setup and integrated customer support.
Sky is positioning the product as a lower-cost alternative to established players such as Ring, claiming savings of more than £100 (€117) over comparable solutions.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, said the aim is to make “high-quality smart tech more accessible”, combining affordability with ease of use.
The launch reflects a growing trend among pay-TV and broadband operators to diversify into adjacent services, including home security and IoT, as they look to deepen customer relationships and reduce churn.
