Allegro Spatial launches on Orange TV with immersive classical music channel

April 14, 2026 21.06 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Orange TV has added a new premium classical music service, Allegro Spatial, offering 4K UHD picture quality and Dolby Atmos sound.

The channel is available free-to-air on Orange TV in metropolitan France until 3 June, before moving into a paid classical music package priced at €11 per month.

Allegro Spatial is positioning itself as a next-generation music channel, designed to replicate the experience of live concerts, operas and ballet through high-end audiovisual production. The service combines native 4K UHD video with spatial audio technology to recreate the acoustics of concert halls and opera houses in the home.

Anaïs Libolt, Director of Content & Services Europe at Dolby Laboratories, said the format enhances the realism of orchestral performance. “Dolby Atmos allows classical music to regain its full spatial dimension, revealing the subtle positioning and interaction of instruments within the orchestra and bringing viewers closer to the live experience.”

The launch reflects wider trends in the connected TV market, where improved home entertainment hardware is enabling more specialised content propositions. Growing penetration of 4K displays and Dolby Atmos-compatible sound systems is encouraging providers to experiment with niche genres that benefit from higher production values.

Allegro Spatial launches with a catalogue of several hundred performances from major venues and festivals, including productions featuring Yuja Wang, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Wiener Philharmoniker, as well as opera and ballet titles such as Puccini’s Turandot and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.

The channel also includes editorial elements such as musicologist commentary to provide additional context for viewers.

For Orange, the addition strengthens its thematic channel offering, targeting dedicated classical audiences while also showcasing the capabilities of advanced TV and audio technologies on its platform.
