Viaplay has expanded its Danish sports news proposition with the launch of viaplaysportnews.dk, a new website carrying news, highlights, analysis and opinion under the Viaplay Sport News brand.
The site went live on Tuesday 7 April and is positioned as an extension of the Viaplay Sport News channel in Denmark.
The company said the new service will give Danish sports fans access to reporting and video from Viaplay’s sports journalists and on-air experts, alongside written analysis and commentary. On the site itself, Viaplay is promoting coverage including Champions League football, handball, golf and other international and domestic sports, as well as a TV guide and short-form highlights.
The launch builds on Viaplay Sport News introduced in Denmark in 2024. The premium sports news channel is available both to premium subscribers on Viaplay and as a linear channel through key distribution partners.
Viaplay framed the website launch as part of a broader push to reinforce its sports position in Denmark, where the group already holds a significant portfolio of rights including UEFA club competitions and the Danish Superliga. The site also complements other digital sports products in the market, with Viaplay saying it forms part of a wider sports offering that includes the Viaplay Sport News channel and the Viascore livescores app.
The move underlines Viaplay’s continued focus on sports-led monetisation in its Nordic home markets, using a mix of streaming, linear channels and digital publishing to deepen engagement around premium rights. That strategy has become increasingly important as the group reshapes its business around core territories and sports-led subscriber value
