Orange TV is expanding its HDR sports offer in Spain with the launch of two new channels dedicated to UEFA club competitions, as operators continue to look for picture-quality upgrades and interactive features to differentiate their football packages.
From today (7 April), Orange TV is adding M|Champions League HDR on channel 116 and M|Champions League 2 HDR on channel 124, carrying the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, as well as UEFA Europa League matches involving Spanish clubs Real Betis and Celta Vigo, according to MasOrange.
The move extends Orange TV’s existing HDR line-up, which already includes M LALIGA HDR and M LALIGA 2 HDR, and forms part of a broader push by MasOrange to strengthen the viewing experience around premium football. The operator says HDR delivers higher brightness, stronger contrast and more detailed colour reproduction, particularly in challenging scenes such as floodlit stadiums and shadow-heavy live sports coverage.
The launch also builds on a series of sports-focused product upgrades introduced over the past year. In July 2025, MasOrange revamped the Orange TV app and added True Motion, a feature designed to improve football picture quality by increasing frame rates from 25fps to 50fps while reducing latency. In January 2026, Orange TV also introduced its Key Plays feature, allowing viewers to replay major moments from live matches directly from the set-top box.
Ignacio García-Legaz, director of television at MasOrange, said the new HDR channels reaffirm Orange TV’s commitment to offering a more realistic and immersive experience for sports viewers.
The latest HDR rollout underlines how pay-TV operators are increasingly focusing less on basic channel expansion and more on premium presentation layers such as HDR, low-latency delivery and in-match navigation tools to retain sports subscribers. In Orange TV’s case, the strategy is centred on football, where image quality and live-event responsiveness remain important competitive levers.
