PA TV Metadata has launched EMMET, a new AI-supported metadata enrichment tool designed to improve content discovery and personalisation across broadcast and streaming platforms.
The company said EMMET uses a human-in-control approach to add descriptive metadata at scale, helping broadcasters and platforms make content easier to find and more relevant to viewers.
Among the additional data layers generated by the tool are mood, themes, soundtrack details and filming locations. PA TV Metadata said this would allow broadcasters, VOD services and FAST platforms to deliver more targeted search and recommendation experiences, as well as support discovery linked to cultural moments and seasonal events.
EMMET is integrated into PA TV Metadata’s Pawa management and distribution system, where it can be applied to a broadcaster or content owner’s catalogue and tailored to individual requirements through custom prompts and taxonomies.
Damon Smith, head of metadata content at PA TV Metadata, said the system was designed to source engaging and mood-based metadata for films and television programming from trusted sources, with the aim of reinvigorating content discovery across linear, VOD and FAST services.
PA TV Metadata said EMMET is intended to combine fast turnaround times with human moderation to maintain data quality and integrity while improving audience engagement.
