Vodafone TV is to add three thematic channels from BBC Studios to its line-up from 1 April, with BBC Earth, BBC Lifestyle and BBC History to be made available to all customers at no extra cost.
The channels will be added automatically to the platform, taking Vodafone TV’s documentary, factual and lifestyle offering further into pay-TV territory as operators continue to use branded thematic channels to broaden their content mix.
BBC Earth will carry a range of natural history and documentary programming, including Cats: Night and Day, Deadly Wildlife with Steve Backshall, The Amazing Journeys of Steve Leonard, South Pacific and From the Andes to the Amazon: Wild South America.
BBC Lifestyle will focus on entertainment and aspirational factual formats, with titles including Antiques Roadshow, DIY SOS, Fishing Impossible, Mansions with Phil Spencer and The World’s Most Luxurious.
BBC History will offer documentary programming spanning ancient and modern history, with programmes including Civilizations, Dynasties: The Windsors, Mummies Uncovered, Revolutions: Ideas That Changed the World and Treasures Uncovered.
The addition strengthens BBC Studios’ branded channel distribution in the market, while giving Vodafone TV a broader factual proposition across science, history and lifestyle genres.
Vodafone said the move reinforces its strategy of offering a more comprehensive catalogue of premium content to subscribers, as competition between TV platforms increasingly centres on depth and breadth of programming rather than basic channel count alone.
