Vodafone TV Spain has expanded its content offering through a new partnership with Rakuten TV, bringing its transactional video-on-demand service to the operator’s platform.
The integration gives Vodafone TV customers access to the Videoclub by Rakuten TV service, offering around 6,000 rental titles, including recent releases and catalogue films, available directly through the set-top box interface.
Users will be able to rent films via Vodafone’s TV platform with charges added to their monthly bill. Content can also be viewed across compatible Android devices, extending access beyond the main screen.
Vodafone said the addition enhances its aggregated entertainment proposition by increasing the range of on-demand content available within a single interface, without requiring users to leave the platform.
Rakuten TV has been building distribution partnerships with operators and device manufacturers across Europe, combining its streaming catalogue with white-label and platform integration services through Rakuten TV Enterprise.
Jorge Del Puerto, European head of partnerships and business development at Rakuten TV, said the agreement would extend the reach of its premium film catalogue while supporting partners in expanding their content offer.
Jesús Rodríguez, director of Vodafone TV, added the addition of Rakuten’s rental library strengthens Vodafone’s aim of delivering a comprehensive entertainment experience, complementing existing integrations with major streaming platforms.
The move reflects continued operator investment in aggregation strategies, combining subscription services with transactional content to broaden consumer choice and increase platform engagement.
